Review: Sail (Wake, #2) by M. Mabie

This isn’t just a two-year long one-night stand. It’s my life.

This is my life. Our life. It isn’t just some careless affair.

I’ve made the worst decisions a woman could, but I’ll earn my second chance.

She can try keeping all the guilt for herself, but I’m just as much to blame.

Loving Casey wasn’t my biggest mistake. Fighting it for so long was.

I’ll show her how fearless our love makes me. I’ll protect her torn heart.

He still has magic in his eyes. He’s the man who makes me happy.

Her voice still brings me to my knees. She says my name like it’s sacred.

I live for the day when I’m his. To take care of him. To love him the way he deserves.

I can’t wait to be all she needs. I can give her a happy life, security and so much love.

Sometimes two ships never meet in the night, but ours did.

Sometimes the water is rough. It beats you all to hell until you have no choice but get stronger.

Our love story reads more like a tragedy, but to me it’s clean and pure.

Let them point their fingers. Without a love like ours, they haven’t really lived. I pity them.

I’m a cheating wife and a villain. I am his honeybee.

I’m a snake in the grass and I sleep best when I’m lying next to his wife.

I want to be his everything.

I’m nothing without her anyway.

This isn’t even close to over.

It’ll never be over.

My Review:

“We’re here because how much we want each other is stronger than our fear of being with each other. And it’s possible because what we have doesn’t give up.”

The Wake Series by M. Mabie is Perfection! This series by far has been one of the BEST, I have EVER read! Mabie’s writing in both books flowed fluently and doesn’t falter in the least bit, even as you transition from the first book to the next. I must admit that Bait did leave me in a tailspin after reading it. I needed the next book Sail, like I needed my next breath and also water to stay hydrated. (Absolutely, that good!)

Reading Bait the angst made me want to throw my kindle at someone or something. I really wanted to scream at these fictional characters. I have always felt that when a book can evoke so much feeling in a reader the author has done his or her (in this case her) job very well.  To me, words written in fictional books should always be lifted off the page and provide the reader with some type of emotion. That’s superb writing at best! Many read to be moved in some way by what they are reading. You’ll get a storm of emotions in Bait and in Sail you will get the calm of love and bliss, before the brewing storm! Again, the books flowed well and balanced each other out. It’s a necessity in order to have a well written series. M. Mabie hit the nail right on the head!

The main characters Casey and Blake have given me mixed emotions or somewhat of a complex on whether or not I liked them. Honestly, I think I have always liked Casey but Blake was a real issue for me in Bait. Casey wasn’t stellar in Bait either but he was the most likable and I truly felt for him. In Sail, I LOVED them both. The smooth transition that transformed both of them to work together on their relationship to me made them both equally likable. I fell in love with them both. I loved their personalities. Their witty banner and fun loving ways made me want even more of them. They were truly well developed characters.

I’m a CASEY FANGIRL for LIFE! He’s on the list of HOT AS$ Book Boyfriends. Thank you, M. Mabie for such TRUE FICTIONAL PERFECTION!

“You keep a picture of me above your vibrator like a sexual tombstone.” He chuckled. “I approve.”

I can’t recommend this series enough! Love doesn’t even remotely describe my thoughts on this series! If you are looking for a whirlwind affair/romance series this one is SIMPLY phenomenal! Read BAIT and then SAIL! I Promise you will THANK me later!

Review: Bait (Wake, #1) by M. Mabie

He was trouble from the start, but I couldn’t resist.
She was the best kind of trouble. The kind that was so wrong, it felt right.

I’ve tried and failed to stay away from him.
I’ve done everything in my power to make her mine and keep her.

He’s almost impossible to say no to.
She never tells me yes.

We’re always fighting.
When we’re not fighting, we’re… well… making up.

He makes me laugh so hard.
I miss her laugh the most.

I’m a liar.
She knows the truth, but won’t admit it.

Sometimes, I wish I’d never met him.
I wish we could meet all over again. I’d do better.

His girlfriend knows.
The guy she’s with is a fool.

I’ll never love anyone like I love him.
She doesn’t love me enough to choose us.

It was the wrong place.
It was the wrong time.

It should have been him.
It will always be her.

My Review:

I have a love/hate relationship with this book! Several times, I wanted to throw my kindle at something, but I just couldn’t stop reading! (So, I guessed LOVE prevailed and that’s why I have given this book 6+ BAITED STARS!)

(SOMEWHAT OF A SPOILER) I love Casey, however there were many times I was like “shit he’s dumb” and oh Blake, don’t get me started on her – WTH is wrong with her?! No, seriously?! I know this is a fictional character but I still need to know! WTF! She was the most messed up (dumber) and even though that’s the truth Grant was unfortunately the dumbest of them all! Come on, he had to know something was up! Overall I felt extremely bad for him, but AGAIN, COME ON!

If you’re going to do a cliffhanger, that’s the way to do it! LOVED IT!
